I continue to participate in fundraising for the Greater Lafayette Hunger Hike in order to support a small Haitian village called Baudin. In the best of times life in the village is as struggle. This has been made more difficult over the last couple of years deteriorating to a humanitarian crisis with the collapse of the government, gang violence, and further deterioration of the infrastructure. In spite of this, the Haiti team from St. Thomas Aquinas Church in West Lafayette continues to keep working to assist the people of Baudin. Since no U.S. medical team has been able to get into Haiti from Lafayette for the past two years, we have been supporting a Haitian team of nurses and doctors. I have worked side by side with these professionals in the past and found that they provide excellent care and are very committed. We have a seed program and a goat program to help with hunger. Education in Baudin is supported. The Greater Lafayette Hunger Hike supports the St. Thomas Aquinas Haiti Mission, the Lafayette Urban Ministry and Food Finders Food Bank.
