Ten years ago, three moms began rescuing food from local grocers & farms, believing that nourishing food should never go to waste while neighbors go hungry. Today, that simple idea has grown into a movement that is projected to provide more than 200,000 meals this year alone.

Along the way came countless moments that shaped our journey, from gleaning our very first 60 pounds of carrots at Glynwood Farm, which became the first batch of soup prepared in our kitchen, to producing 5,000 meals in our first year. What began with personal vehicles, borrowed coolers, and a handful of volunteers has grown into a network of dedicated partners, hundreds of volunteers, and innovative programs that connect nourishing food with thousands of neighbors across the Hudson Valley while reducing food waste and strengthening our community.

Our Fifth Annual Benefit is an opportunity to celebrate the people, partnerships, and pivotal moments that made this first decade possible, and to look ahead with excitement and hope to everything still to come.

Join us for a festive, inspiring evening filled with:

  • An immersive visual celebration of our past, present, and future through photography, lighting, and storytelling.
  • An incredible silent auction.
  • A multicourse meal inspired by the Second Chance Foods Kitchen.

Come celebrate the first chapter. And together let’s imagine more as we continue building a future with zero hunger.

Glynwood Center for Regional Food & Farming

As Second Chance Foods celebrates 10 years of rescuing food and nourishing our community, we are proud to honor Glynwood for nine years of extraordinary partnership and impact. From the very first 60 pounds of carrots gleaned from their CSA fields—which became the first batch of soup ever made in our kitchen—to the thousands of pounds of fresh, nourishing produce donated each growing season, Glynwood has been an integral part of our story. Their commitment to farming, food access, environmental stewardship, and community has helped strengthen Second Chance Foods and improve the lives of countless neighbors. We are deeply grateful for this partnership and honored to celebrate Glynwood's lasting impact.

Wendy Samuelson

There are certain people whose arrival marks a memorable turning point—and Wendy's was one of those moments. Through her passion, generosity, and unwavering belief in our mission, she has transformed our annual benefit, introduced countless new donors, volunteers, supporters, and even board members to Second Chance Foods, and become one of our most enthusiastic ambassadors. Whether hosting events, making new connections, or simply sharing our story with someone she meets in the grocery store, Wendy has helped Second Chance Foods grow in truly immeasurable ways over the years. Quite simply, Second Chance Foods would not be where it is today without Wendy's extraordinary generosity, enthusiasm, and ability to inspire others to join our mission.
