Cyclon Amphane: Worst in 20 Years!
On May 20, then Super-Cyclone Amphan made landfall, hitting regions of Bangladesh and India particularly hard. It is the strongest cyclone to have formed in the Bay of Bengal since 1999. Some 100 people died, and nearly 10 million people across the region are estimated to have been affected. Islamic Relief teams in the area responded immediately to get emergency food aid and other essential items to vulnerable communities.
The cyclone has since passed alhamdulilah, but the need is still immense.

Striving for Livelihood Amidst Poverty
A significant percentage of the population in Bangladesh depend on agricultural outputs for income. However, tropical storms and coastal flooding may interfere, only to exacerbate poverty and economic insecurity. Educational opportunities also continue to be of varying quality.
As much as we’ve been able to accomplish, there is still so much more to do. If we work together—with YOU—we can make the vision of better Bangladesh a reality for so many more of our sisters and brothers in need.
