One of the poorest countries in the world, Mali ranks 182 out of 188 on the United Nations Human Development Index. Much of the poverty is driven by drought or war. And because its economy is not diverse, it is quite vulnerable to fluctuations and falls.

But the people of Mali remain resilient through it all, using the resources available to them to cope and thrive through the difficult times.
