Health Care Unaffordable for Syrian Refugees and Vulnerable Jordanians
Recent spikes in healthcare costs have made access to medical care virtually unattainable for many Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians who were already suffering from illness and poverty–this amidst the continued spread of coronavirus variants and other diseases left untreated during lockdowns.
For Syrian refugee families, for example, many live on less than $3/day according to the United Nations. As such, medical costs were already unaffordable. But now, with the costs two-to-five times what they were before, the hope for health aid, including preventative measures to stop the spread of disease, is nonexistent.
