Somalia consistently experiences devastating flash flooding, drought, and other conditions onset by global warming. Flooding in recent years has affected more than 600,000 people in various regions throughout the country.
It’s also one of the poorest countries, where 6.2 million people, or half the country’s population, require humanitarian assistance and protection. 3.3 million of those people require urgent, life-saving assistance, according to the World Health Organization. In addition, conflict and violence adds another layer of devastation that falls on Somali citizens.
Yet, the Somali people are resourceful and resilient, and they do whatever they can to survive and thrive through it all.
