• Because of its coastal location, natural disasters like floods remain a high risk
• Nearly 92% of the population is literate (World Bank)
• Concerns continue about sourcing sex trafficking in the nation (CIA World Factbook)
• Migrants from the nation to other areas may face debt labor or forced bondage

With all this considered, one thing remains clear: The people of Sri Lanka are resilient and, with the support of donors like you, families in need there can access opportunities to break the chains of poverty and move toward success.

In 2004, the Islamic Relief family began work in Sri Lanka. This was in response to the catastrophic Indian Ocean tsunami that occurred that year.
