IRaise for Emergency Water and Sanitation in Yemen
The humanitarian crisis in Yemen remains the worst in the world, driven by conflict, disease, economic collapse, and the breakdown of public institutions and services. Add to that the rampant spread of diseases like cholera, dengue, malaria, and diphtheria, and, perhaps worst of all, COVID-19, and you begin to realize just how dire the situation is.
Part of the reason for the spread of these diseases is a lack of access to clean water and sanitation facilities: It is estimated that nearly two-thirds of the population is unable to regularly get to safe water.
The Power of You
The All-Powerful, Allah (SWT), has put power and opportunity in your hands and in your heart to give charity through IRUSA, and to support efforts for our sisters and brothers in need. Here are just some of the ways your donations through IRUSA can be powerful for this project:
$25 can support water access for a community member
$250 can help ensure the rehabilitation of malfunctioning water systems
$1,000 can support the construction of new water tanks
So, will you use your God-given power to help those in need? Say “YES!,” and click DONATE NOW or BECOME A FUNDRAISER to get started. You can either donate directly to this effort, or start a fundraising page to harness the power of your community to raise more awareness and support for this program.
IRUSA Program to Bring Clean Water to Yemeni Families in Need
To help families across Yemen’s Al-Hudaydah and Dhamar regions address this need, IRUSA, through the support of humanitarians like you, is implementing a powerful program that will make access to clean water and sanitation easier for more than 48,000 people, and will, therefore, help prevent the spread of these dangerous diseases.
The ultimate goal is to reduce the vulnerability rates, potential risk, and impact of water-related diseases and outbreaks for both host communities and displaced families taking refuge in the area, and making sure community members from both genders have their water and sanitation needs addressed.
Here are just some of the interventions we are working on:
-
Conducting water quality and pumping tests for existing water systems
-
Rehabilitating and upgrading existing water systems, including the installation of solar systems
-
Construction of water tanks
-
Distribution of water pipes
-
Formation of management committees, for both males and females, that will be trained on the operation and maintenance of water systems
-
Training for volunteers on culturally-appropriate hygiene practices so that they can ensure practices are maintained over the long term
-
Distribution of gender sensitive and culturally appropriate hygiene kits
