Islamic Relief has made a commitment of $2.1 million to help both families across Afghanistan and the 83,000 refugees newly arrived in the US.
Together, with our regional offices in Kabul, Balkh, Herat, and Nangarhar, we are working to help provide those in need with the following:
- Food packages including staple items like flour, rice, oil, and sugar
- Essential non-food items such as hygiene kits, household items, and clothing
- Emergency equipment such as family-sized tents
We are also teaming up with our partner network to help our new Afghan neighbors transition into their new homes through the following:
- Greeting orientations, transportation from the airport, and interpreters upon arrival
- Cash, rental, and legal assistance
- Hygiene kits and clothing
- Food boxes including items like flour, rice, oil, sugar, lentils, beans, salt, and green tea
- Mental health and psychosocial support
- Medical case management
