Help Us in Ending Hunger

Ready to tackle hunger in a BIG way?

Let's Start Here, at Home!

Hunger is deeply intertwined with poverty. More than enough food is produced around the world to feed the global population. However, more than 44 million people in the US are food insecure, and forced to turn to food banks, food pantries, and community organizations to help feed their families.

You can do something about it! Be part of IRUSA’s MEAL PACK OUT to provide nutritious meals for families in need across the US.

Volunteers just like you have packed millions of meals through this amazing effort–yes, MILLIONS!

We’re excited to have you join us again, so hang tight as we finalize plans for our next meal pack, making sure every possible safety precaution is put into place.

Each box contains 216 meals

We Need YOUR Help.

Together, we can make a difference in people’s lives. Did you know:

  • Food Insecurity Rate: Approximately 10.2% of U.S. households experienced food insecurity in 2022 (USDA).
  • Number of Food-Insecure Individuals: About 33.8 million people in the U.S. were food insecure in 2022.
  • Child Food Insecurity: Around 12.3% of U.S. children lived in food-insecure households in 2022.

If you’re part of a student organization, mosque, or similar group, email us at volunteer@irusa.org to find out how we can bring a meal pack to you!

Islamic Relief’s Dedication to Ending Hunger in the USA

Food aid is the largest sector of Islamic Relief’s humanitarian aid. Our food aid programs range from worldwide distribution during the Ramadan and Qurbani seasons to mobilized deliveries right here at home.

Here’s just a sampling of our recent efforts to fight hunger worldwide and here in the USA:

  • Ramadan
Our Ramadan food program is a major part of our campaign to end hunger and poverty. In 2023, Islamic Relief worked with 98 partners across the USA to provide food to 131,200 people and to over 337,358 people in 29 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
  • Qurbani/Udhiyah
Qurbani/Udhiyah is our biggest single food-sharing program. For many people who receive this gift, it is the only meat they will eat all year. In 2023, you shared Qurbani/Udhiyah with 371,849 people in 27 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
  • Meal Packs
In 2022, Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA) packaged two types of dry ingredient meals: rice and beans, and pasta with red sauce. Each package served up to 6 people with just the addition of water. The goal was to provide a basic, nutritious meal that recipients could enhance with additional protein or vegetables. This effort aimed to combat hunger and ensure access to food for as many beneficiaries as possible, reaching a total of 1,312,346 people domestically.
  • Hot Meals
Through our Hot Meals program, we’re working to alleviate food insecurity in major urban cities across the US. With your support, we’re able to reach vulnerable groups and communities whose food and nutrition security have been adversely affected by poverty. In 2023, Islamic Relief worked with 20 partners across the country to provide food to vulnerable people.
  • Summer Food Service Program
We strive to increase access to food and support those struggling not only during the school year but in the summer as well. According to a report from the Food Research Action Center, only one in six students receive free or reduced-price meals over the summer. That’s why Islamic Relief is a proud supporter of the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program, a program dedicated to combat food insecurity by providing safe spaces for children in need to receive meals during their summer break. In 2023 alone, we provided 51,000 people with healthy, balanced meals across seven states.
