"My students have told me that they felt so free when they had their own jobs to do. They loved earning money and spending it. They have felt important on the JA BizTown days because they had a job to do."
- Jessica, JA Educator
"JA Biztown is an absolutely amazing opportunity for my students to learn real-world skills that they can use the rest of their lives. Before going to BizTown, my students learn how to write checks and use a debit card, how to make deposits and withdraw funds and how to track how much money they have in their account. They learn how to be good citizens and what their rights and responsibilities are as citizens of their community as well as the JA BizTown Community. They learn how to apply for a job and how to interview for a job. All of this even BEFORE they go to JA BizTown!!
When we actually go to JA BizTown the students learn what it's like to have a job and earn money. They learn that we have to make difficult decisions sometimes on what we want to buy. They learn how to cooperate to start a business and pay off a bank loan and so much more. JA BizTown is an amazing hands-on simulation that lets my students enter the real world for a day. My students in the past have asked why we can't go more than once! I LOVE JA BizTown and having one so close is amazing!!
- Eric, JA Educator
"JA Biztown curriculum provides students with simulations that recreate our real world economic environment. When students spend the day at JA BizTown, they feel empowered to make financial decisions and work together as a business team to accomplish their goals.
Oftentimes, I have students visit years later and mention that they vividly remember their experience at JA Biztown and how it made a positive impression on their future decisions involving wise money investment/budgeting decisions."
- Angela, JA Educator
"We love JA Finance Park because our kids get to interact with local business partners from our community. We teach a financial literacy class one way or another so this is a way to enrich that, and give them a real-life career experience. Some of the fun of a field trip, but also with a real academic purpose. So we can take that financial literacy work that we would do anyway, and give them real-life experience."
- Andy, Clinton Middle School Principal
"Through this learning experience I’ve learned how to write checks, do deposits, credit cards, what it’s going to be like, what life will be like when I get older with these jobs."
- Simon, JA Student
“It teaches you how to write checks, lets you experience the real world, you can learn how to use money wisely, it helps you be more organized, teaches you how to spend your time wisely, helps you learn how to deal with mistakes, teaches you how to be respectful and responsible outside of school, and how to communicate with others.”
- Ella, JA BizTown student
