The 2022 Janss Pro-Am Classic is officially on the calendar for March 31 - April 2. This three-day "best party on snow" continues to honor the traditions since the event was founded in memory of Mr. Bill Janss, member of the 1940 Olympic Alpine Team, former owner of Sun Valley, and lifetime enthusiast and supporter of skiing and ski racing until his passing in 1996. The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation is proud to host the Janss Pro-Am Classic in Bill's honor, and as a tribute to his unrelenting commitment to our community.
Skiing, riding, and socializing headline the festivities—with theme-driven costumes in full force both on and off the slopes. On the heels of the Beijing Olympics, teams are encouraged to pick a country and a sport from the Winter OR Summer Olympic Games. Sixteen teams of six will be comprised of five skiers and snowboarders of all abilities plus a pro. All teams will be handicapped per a timed event and then go head-to-head in a dual giant slalom format on world-famous Bald Mountain.
It's wining and dining with some skiing, racing, and prizes thrown in for the Speed Cup (fastest team on Friday), Best Costume, Spirit Award, Best Crash, Most Elitely Average, and the Top 3 Teams. From the welcome reception at Michel's, to a private fondue lunch at Roundhouse, après at Apples Bar & Grill, and a gala at Sun Valley Resort, there's something for everyone if they're looking to turn up the fun meter!
Note: The Janss Pro-Am Classic was founded in 1998. With two years on hiatus due to the pandemic, the 2022 event will be the 23rd year of the Janss Pro-Am Classic.
