Fundraising Ideas
Get the Boss Involved
- Early Release- Designate a day that employees can go home early if they make a donation to JA.
- Extras-Reward employees if they raise a certain dollar amount (drink coupon at the alley, extra raffle tickets, etc.).
- Lunch with the CEO- Many of us don’t normally sit down for a meal with the CEO or President of your company. Offer lunch with your CEO/President to any team that fundraises over $1,000.
- Have the boss do something silly (wear a costume to work, bring cookies for the entire office, shave their head....) if your company reaches its fundraising goal.
- Fundraising Challenge- Challenge the boss to match all donations raised.
Sales
- Candy Store- Purchase candy in bulk and set up a “candy store” at work
- Bake Sales-Ask bowlers to bake their favorite dessert
- Ice cream Sundae Bar- Have an ice cream sundae bar
- Raffle Baskets- Raffle baskets are sure to generate funds for your team!
- Sell “Casual Day” stickers ($5). Better yet, sell Casual Month stickers ($45/month). See what your HR department will allow!
- Chili cook-off – charge $10 contest entry fee and $5 chili lunch fee; offer a prize to the winning chili chef
- Potluck – each employee provides one dish (entrée, appetizer, bread, drinks); charge $10 to enjoy the feast
- Pancake Breakfast- charge $5 for your annual pancake breakfast. For an extra fee, individuals can participate in your pancake eating contest. Many restaurants will give a % of proceeds to your cause. (Examples: Peter Piper Pizza, Panera, Chipotle and Krispy Kreme)Hold a silent auction
- Garage Sale- Hold an office-wide garage sale. A Desk or Cubicle Sale is also a good idea!
Things Bowlers Can Do Solo
- Don’t be shy! Use our online tools to share your fundraising efforts on social media and email
- In lieu of a birthday/wedding/holiday gift, ask your friends and family to make a donation
- Take advantage of corporate matching gift programs
- Ask for a donation from those whom you frequent on a regular basis – doctor, dentist, veterinarian, yoga instructor, personal trainer, auto mechanic dry cleaner. You’ve probably supported them for years with your business. They might be happy to return the favor!
Raffles, Auctions & Games
- Raffle & Auctions- Ask for donated items and conduct a raffle or auction at work. Popular items include:
- Travel Packages – weekend stay at a local resort, week at time-share
- Entertainment – concerts, theater tickets, foursome at local golf course, tickets to sporting events
- Electronics – Nintendo Wii, Playstation, MP3 player, tablet, camera...
- Gift Baskets – wine basket, chocolate basket, board games basket, movie baskets, etc.
- Parking Raffle – a premier parking spot for a week
- Extra Day off Raffle- For any bowler who raises $300 or more is entered into a drawing for one day of extra paid vacation. This is a great way to raise the average amount that bowlers raise
- Tournaments- Charge $5 to enter a tournament over the lunch hour.
- Wii bowling, cornhole, and bingo are all great options
- March Madness- Dedicate your company “March Madness” brackets to your
- JA fundraising; offer a prize to the winner
- Fair Day- Fun and fundraising all rolled up in one fabulous day of events in a Fair Day. Fair day includes food sales, basketball shoot-out and a dunk tank. Who wouldn’t pay to dunk their boss?
- Dare Challenge- Employees can challenge each other to do or wear certain things around the office. For $10 a person can challenge a colleague and the colleague can opt out of the dare for an additional $10. Dares can include wearing a disliked sport team’s jersey, greeting everyone at the door as they arrive at the office, assigning a manager with a task, ending every conversation with “and please support the JA Bowl-A-Thon,” etc. Personalize the dares for your office!
