We are back for year 3 as CDSS Down Syndrome Walk Ambassadors and we sure are honored to be! 

This year our theme is "moving forwards, not backwards" and discovering a world where everyone is seen, valued and respected for who they truly are! 

I will never quite forget my 25 week ultrasound in which the doctor pointed out that one of the characteristics of Down Syndrome was a curved pinky and recently I was brought right back to that moment when Piper's daycare teacher handed me an early mothers day gift that Piper had made - They took her hand print and turned it into a tulip - with that curved pinky oh so obvious! 

There were so many fears back then during my pregnancy that I wish I could erase - because - here we are, moving forward, learning everyday from Piper that she is so much more capable than anyone had ever allowed me to believe during that scary time in our lives. 

Piper is a spicy, sweet little redhead, who runs into daycare without looking back, who practices saying all of her friends names, who passed her first level of swim lessons recently, who loves walking her dollys in their strollers, who loves swinging on her playset and going for walks, who is now speaking 3-word sentences, who is practicing how high she can jump, and couting down before she slides, who bring us joy in the moments we absolutely need it most. She is our little human with an extra chromosome and we are moving forward with her each and everyday! 

Please join us this year on June 7th at Battery Park in St. Peters, Cape Breton, NS for a picnic and rock-painting! We will provide snacks and refreshments, painting supplies + rocks for everyone to paint to celebrate our girl - These rocks will start a "snake rock" throughout town that will grow as people add to it and bring smiles to many!
