About this Initiative: The Zeta Psi chapter of Kappa Alpha Order at Campbell University has partnered with the Independence Fund to raise money to purchase an all terrain wheelchair for a wounded veteran. Our veteran, Chris, a former US Army Staff Sergeant, was a member of the Golden Knight parachute team. Before his injury, Chris had more than 4,000 successful free-fall parachute jumps at events around the world. Chris was injured on a jump in 2015 and, as a result, suffered a broken foot, broken pelvis, broken hip and lasting damage to his spinal cord – leaving him unable to walk. Any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your consideration to donating to this cause that means so much to our chapter!
About The Independence Fund: Founded in 2007, The Independence Fund is committed to empowering our nation's severely wounded, injured, or ill Veterans to overcome physical, mental, and emotional wounds incurred in the line of duty. The Independence Fund is dedicated to improving the lives of both our Veterans and their families through its Mobility, Caregiver, Adaptive Sports, and Advocacy Programs, which promote real change for the Veteran community nationally. To learn more about the mission, visit www.independencefund.org. This year, we are expanding this initiative to include KA chapters on college campuses around the country to support the Independence Fund and our veterans.
About our chapter: Campbell's KA has been on campus for 7 years. Although we were the last fraternity to be chartered, our last two years have seen tremendous growth. We have sky rocked to be the largest fraternity on our campus. Because of this, we have been able to do many fundraisers, community service projects on and off campus, and philanthropy work. Our chapter has a high percentage of ROTC cadets, prior service soldiers, and family members who have served in the U.S. Military. We also have many supporters of our chapter who are currently serving or who are veterans. To be able to help purchase a wheelchair for a veteran who gave it their all for our great country is something we all truly take pride in.
