Dear Friends,
You may have heard about the ongoing war in Ukraine and you may have already generously helped my own relatives from Ukraine come to the U.S. by donating to my GoFundMe page. I am very grateful for your gift. I am now again asking you to open your hearts and wallets to help a needy Ukrainian family stay warm this winter in the east-Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. This family, the Mulyks, who are my third cousins (pic in my avatar), are in need of generators to stay warm this winter. This is because Russia has done substantial damage to Kharkiv's power grid by shelling civilian electric stations powering the city. Many families on the outskirts and in surrounding villages have been without power and water for weeks. As Putin's army prepares to escalate the conflict by deploying 300,000 more troops to eastern Ukraine, the Mulyks and families like them must prepare for the worst this winter.
I am raising $3,500 to purchase 3 generators for the Mulyks, their elderly parents and their grandparents. The Mulyks - Katya, Dima, and their 9 year old daughter Sasha - live in Kharkiv while their elderly parents and grandparents live in the nearby village of Velykyi Burluk in Kharkiv region. Every dollar you donate will go towards helping them stay warm this winter.
Additionally, every dollar you donate to this campaign is tax deductible. This is because for this fundraiser I am partnering with Kidsave, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Tax ID: 91-1887623, that helps kids in orphanages and operates in Ukraine, Sierra Leone, and Colombia. Once I reach my fundraising goal, Kidsave's volunteers on the ground in Kharkiv will purchase and deliver the generators directly to the Mulyks, their parents and grandparents.
About Kidsave Ukraine:
Since the invasion of Ukraine, Kidsave’s efforts have shifted from training, mentoring, and family-finding to emergency evacuation and rescue. Their team in Ukraine started with only four Kidsave team members and their personal vehicles, but it has since grown to include over 100 volunteers and a fleet of 40 vehicles. This team has been referred to in Ukraine as “Angels of Hope” as they risk their lives daily to continue to evacuate women, children, and families out of active combat zones and into safety.
As of August 2022, Kidsave’s team has rescued more than 24,000 orphans, children, families and the elderly in Ukraine and delivered over 460 tons of humanitarian aid. Daily, they feed more than 32,000 people. They are currently one of the only nonprofit groups still traveling in and out of active combat zones to rescue and evacuate. There is still work to do, and your donation will help them continue their life-saving work in Ukraine.
How to Donate:
If you’d like to help me reach my goal, you can donate here or to my GoFundMe page or to my Kidsave Fundraiser Page.
Please let me know if you have any questions or thoughts – I’d love to hear from you! Thank you so much for helping me reach my goal, and for supporting Kidsave. I couldn’t do it without you!
Many thanks,
Yuliya Zeynalova Barron
If you can think of others who might be interested in making a donation, please forward this email to them or share it on social media! Kidsave is a great organization and you’d be helping them (and me!) by spreading the word.
