Over the last 29 days, we’ve worked non-stop, with many a sleepless night, to build our humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. Yet, we can't even imagine the grit and determination our team on the ground musters each day to drive more than 1200 miles again and again to rescue orphans and civilians. Today, our team has rescued 5,926 people. Of those, 3,769 have been children. 

The updates coming in from our team are more and more gut-wrenching. We heard this week that in villages in Mykolaiv, families with infants and small children had spent nine days with little to no food and water in basements to escape the bombings. This week we rescued more than 1400 civilians. And as our over-loaded buses drove away, there were still people outside, lined up, begging for a ride. We promised them we would return, and we did today. Through your support, we will keep saving these innocent children and families from war zones.

When we started Kidsave 23 years ago to connect older children in orphanages to families, I never thought we'd be doing rescue missions. I'm grateful that we were there with our family visit and mentoring programs and could send help right away.

Today, the New York Times reported that more than half of Ukraine's children no longer live in their homes. We can't even begin to measure the toll and what it will take to make these children feel safe again. But we are committed. We are here to support these children for the long haul.
