I’m excited to be part of the Big Island AIDS Walk once again, helping to bring it back post-COVID. This event has always held a special place in my heart. In 2012, I helped organize the inaugural walk and the annual events that followed as an outreach and prevention worker. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of returning to this organization as a medical case manager and director working directly with individuals living with HIV. Today, I lead the Care team, and I see firsthand how vital this work is—especially here on the Big Island, where access to care and resources is already limited.

This year, your support is more critical than ever. The current administration is rapidly dismantling programs that provide life-saving services to the most vulnerable among us. Federal funding for HIV/AIDS care, prevention, and research is being slashed, putting countless lives at risk. Now more than ever, we need community-driven support to fill the gaps and ensure that people in Hawaiʻi continue to receive the care they deserve.
