Since the onset of COVID, The Arc of Essex County’s Opportunity Zone Day Program staff has been utilizing its facilities to offer virtual services.  Opportunity Zone features large rooms where, pre-COVID, program participants could move around freely during health and wellness activities such as yoga, dance parties, and stretching.  With ample space, our team members have been able to continue to offer these activities virtually through Zoom.  By adding an iPad and tripod, instructors will be able to frame full body views when demonstrating how to “stretch and touch their toes” or properly do a jumping jack.

As many of our group homes participate in virtual exercise programming from Opportunity Zone together, a new desktop computer, large monitor, and webcam will enable the team to see all virtual program participants on one screen.  This will enhance our team members’ abilities to interact with the full group.  By outfitting existing desktop computers with webcams, multiple staff can join the virtual broadcast to manage questions from the group and provide real-time feedback to participants.
