When I heard  Dr. Jeff Brodsky (Founder & President of JOY International) on the radio this morning I was so moved by his story that he had been barefoot in solidarity with trafficked and impoverished children since July 2010! Sitting at the traffic light my heart sank in despair as I paused and began to think of all the children, girls and women whom everyday endure kidnapping, physical, sexual and mental torture that most always stays hidden in the dark. 

Every Barefoot Mile represents a community's commitment to walk in solidarity with trafficked children, who so desperately need someone to stand on their behalf.  Precious children, teens and young women will be rescued as a result of every single walk. Each and every step is a step toward freedom. 

So I called my husband Rick and told him I was registering (well that WE were) and even if we couldn't recruit other Sole Steppers on Saturday July 31st he would know our morning was booked for this momentous sole walk.
