Catherine’s dedication to Girl Scouting has been a steady part of her life. A lifelong member of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County and a Gold Award recipient, she grew up embracing the values of courage, confidence, and character—lessons that continue to guide her.

A school-based speech-language pathologist in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District, Catherine helps students at Grand Avenue Middle School become stronger communicators. She believes every child deserves a voice and has furthered her professional growth by earning her School Building Leader and School District Leader certifications. She credits many of her leadership skills to the opportunities she gained through Girl Scouting.

Catherine has twice served as a Girl Scout leader—first for her sister and now for her daughter—keeping her involved across generations. She also has a long history with the GSNC Chorus. After participating as a member, she began directing the chorus at age 18 and has continued in that role for 24 years, helping girls build confidence and community through music.

As a senior Girl Scout, Rande Bynum gave her the opportunity to lead a singing station at Old Bethpage Village Restoration—an early experience that helped her grow as a leader.

Catherine remains grateful for the role Girl Scouting has played in her life and is committed to giving back to the organization that helped shape her.
