On March 24, 2019, I will lace up my running shoes to run the Los Angeles Half Marathon in support of City Year Los Angeles and student success!

City Year is an education non-profit with sites in 29 US cities and affiliates in South Africa and the UK. City Year Los Angeles collaborates with LA Unified School District (LAUSD) to determine which schools and with which students we can be most effective. CYLA AmeriCorps members, who are idealistic young adults ages 17-25, support 12,000 students by serving in 32 schools across the city. By helping students in grades 3 through 10 in the areas of attendance, behavior coaching, and coursework, students can get back on track to graduation. 

I am running to support City Year Los Angeles because I believe that every child deserves to have access to a quality education. Every day, I work toward helping a school transform by leading a team of 10 AmeriCorps members at a middle school is Watts. We mentor students, we work alongside teachers and school administrators, and we collaborate with community organizations. We do all of this because every child deserves to be surrounded by adults that care about them. I run to inspire our students.
