Literacy NJ's funding is at risk, and so are the opportunities to obtain a better job, a high school diploma, citizenship, and the confidence to speak to a doctor, teacher or neighbor.

Last year 1,726 adult learners and 385 trained tutors worked together for more than 70,000 hours to reach over 2,500 student goals. 

Xiomara was an ESL student who set a personal goal to earn her high school diploma and continue her education. "When I learned I had passed the tests, I was excited, because it was so hard for me. I cried, and in my mind, I realized how far I had come. I knew that new opportunities would now open up since I received my high school diploma."

Even in these most challenging times, we are committed to empowering adult learners. Our students count on us for free ESL, GED, Basic Literacy and U.S. Citizenship classes.
