Hello to all my friends, family, and peers -- 

Literacy NJ's funding is at risk, and so are the opportunities to obtain a better job, a high school diploma, citizenship, and the confidence to speak to a doctor, teacher or neighbor.

Literacy New Jersey is a 501c3 nonprofit organization which provides free instruction to adults who need help with reading, writing, math, science, and speaking English. Trained volunteer tutors work with adults one-to-one or in small groups by helping them improve their language and literacy skills so they can reach their life goals. 

In July of 2020, I started as a volunteer tutor for HSE (High School Equivalency) students. I have always enjoyed helping others whether it be through volunteer work, teaching, or Church Mission Trips, and this was no different.  

Currently, I am the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator in Middlesex County. I expanded our outreach to a plethora of nonprofit organizations, hosted tabling events for students and tutors, conducted over 200 student assessments, and taught two ESL classes twice per week. There are a plethora of students who lack the resources to learn, read, write, and speak English. With your help, we can provide even more students with quality resources to unlock their full potential.

Let’s collaborate so we can celebrate students like Shipra who went on 5 different job interviews and found employment.
Let’s work together so students like Josue and Leah can earn their GED to broaden their education.
Let’s strive for excellence so students like Ruby can pass their Citizenship test.
