In December of 2017, we found out we were expecting our third baby - another boy! We were a little stressed about how to make ends meet and ensure we had enough space, but we were so excited that our family was going to be complete when our little guy arrived.
Everything was going great and the pregnancy was much easier than the previous two had been, so we were hopeful that things would be smooth sailing. When my 20 week ultrasound rolled around, I dropped off our two boys with my mom and went to the appointment without a care in the world. That day the world came crashing down around us. 'I'm so sorry, but there's no heartbeat.'
We spent 36 hours in the hospital inducing labor before we met our beautiful boy in a silent room, Coleson Graham Francisco. He had his dad's brow shape already and we could tell he would have looked so similar to his big brothers as he grew up. We found out after he was born that Coleson had a true knot in his umbilical cord which caused his stillbirth.
We are walking with the Star Legacy Foundation to raise awareness for stillbirth. This isn't something we knew about and we never thought it would happen to us. This isn't something that should be kept quiet or swept away to be dealt with privately. Families dealing with a loss like this need advocates, support, and resources. Star Legacy is helping to make that a reality.
