"In working with Jonny, I discovered he worked as many as three jobs a week, and had never had a position that would provide security and benefits for his family...his dream was to get a permanent position at M&M Mars... we met to go over possible interview questions and how he would answer them.  We talked about how to dress and present himself with confidence….the interview process at Mars was long and difficult, but finally, he achieved success and got the production assistant job! This is just one example of how Literacy NJ's programs have helped people improve their lives...whether it's providing English instruction to immigrants looking for better jobs, or helping low literate adults improve their reading and wrtiing with a view toward earning a high school diploma, Literacy NJ is making a postive difference in people's lives.

Even during the pandemic, we  continued to provide services by transitioning to online instruction...this required additional training for tutors and staff, new equipment, and special software licenses...while effective and extremely useful, these changes have proven costly.
