Join me in supporting Literacy New Jersey's efforts to help every adult who struggles with reading, writing, and speaking English!

Imagine how difficult it would be to find a job, navigate public transportation, or help your children with school if you couldn't read, write or speak English? The challenges that low literate adults face every day are immense and often seem insurmountable...

With the help of  dedicated volunteer tutors these same adults are able to improve their skills in a way that dramatically improves their lives...they are able to find jobs to support their families; communicate with teachers, doctors and neighbors; read road signs and bus schedules, and become part of their community without fear or shame.

As a volunteer tutor and Literacy NJ staff member I have seen this kind of success firsthand:  after months of studying and practicing together, I watched my students raise their hands and  take the oath of allegiance to the United States for the first time as proud new citizens - a moment I will never forget. For these students, having access to a Literacy NJ program truly made a difference in their life!
