Welcome back #TeamSashaStrong!! We are so excited to welcome you back to the 2nd Annual LACE'EM Up for Epilepsy Walk. This year will you join me in-person or virtually to help reach our team goal of $2,000. For those that are new to the team, I was diagnosed with epilepsy in July of 2011 following a sports related brain injury. I was diagnosed with Focal impaired awareness seizures (Complex Partial) and Focal aware seizures (Simple Partial). In late 2015 we were told I had drug resistant epilepsy (Refractory Epilepsy) meaning medications alone weren't helping in controlling my seizures. The next best option for seizure control was surgery. In early February 2016 I had surgery to my VNS (Vagus Nerve Stimulator) implanted. My seizures have dramatically decreased. Even though I am still not seizure free, I continue to live each day the best I can. Until we can live in a life with no seizures, I will continue to raise awareness and walk alongside everyone on this journey.
