The Journey 2020: Frequently Asked Questions

The Journey 2020: Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is Mission1Race: The Journey 2020?

A1. Mission1Race: The Journey 2020 is a 7 day, event experience. It begins Sunday December 6 in San Diego, California and ends Sunday December 13 in Santa Barbara, California. The in person endurance portion of the event consists of 6 days of staged distances that begin at one of the historic California missions and travels each day, one mission at a time to the next traveling North. Additionally, the event allows participants to register and participate in a way that is adjusted to individual ability levels. Participants can also virtually complete the event distances from anywhere in the world.

Q2. Is this an in person event or is it virtual?

A2. Yes and we also have virtual options for participation. At this time, we are monitoring the restrictions and guidelines put into place by local authorities along our 250 mile route to adhere to all social distancing and gathering restrictions. We will continue to monitor and communicate the in person guidelines to all participants as they are determined. We will also support and provide full event logistics in best practices for all registered virtual participants.

Registration is currently open for in person and virtual registrants. If it is determined that we will not host any in person runners and will be a 100% virtual event, we will communicate all options to participants.

Q3. Can I just participate one day?

A3. Yes. You can register to run one day as an individual or a Team member. You can also choose to run multiple single days as an individual or as a Team. We encourage you to participate in a way that works best for you.

Q4. What if I cannot run but I want to be part of the experience in some way?

A4. You can choose the all ability participation option in the registration path. This allows you to challenge yourself in some way, it does not have to be a physical activity. You can also register and reach out to our team for ideas that fit your lifestyle and abilities to maximize your experience with The Journey 2020.

Q5. Can I have more than 8 people on a full distance Team or more than 4 people on a single day Team?

A5. Yes you can. If you have a company, or any group of runners that want to all participate together, we can help you with that! If you need to have more than 4 members on a single day or more than 8 members on a full distance Team, please reach out to us to help get you all registered and support you all in the running distances for your group size for each day of the full event or any single day you choose to run.

Q6. What are the names of each Mission and the distances from each Mission on each day?

A6. All days and distances are below:

Day 1 - December 7 - San Diego Mission to Oceanside Mission (39 miles/63 Km.)

Day 2 - December 8 - Oceanside Mission to San Juan Capistrano Mission (33 miles/53 Km.)

Q7. If the event has no in person experiences, and I do not want to participate virtually, can I defer to 2020 or have a refund?

A7. You can choose to defer, one time, for one year, so as an example you can choose to move your 2020 registration to 2021, but cannot request 2021 to defer to 2022. Our event supports an operating 501c3 non profit so we cannot refund your race registration, but we appreciate your understanding and support of the Mission1Race Mission!

Q8. How can I learn more about being part of the event, as a participant, sponsorship or volunteering?

A8. You can email events@Mission1Race.org
