When I first started working at the Stowe Family YMCA, I thought my role would be about assisting members, answering questions, and making sure everything ran smoothly. But over the course of seven years, I realized that my job was about so much more—it was about connecting with people and making an impact. Through countless conversations with members and program participants over the years, I’ve come to understand just how powerful the Y’s programs can be. And that’s exactly why I’m so passionate about the Annual Giving Campaign. I’ve also seen the impact of our Safety Around Water (SAW) program. I remember meeting a mom who was terrified that her child wouldn’t be safe around water because they couldn’t afford swimming lessons. Thanks to the financial assistance provided by the Annual Giving Campaign, her child was able to participate in the program and gain life-saving skills. Seeing her relief and gratitude was a reminder that the funds we raise aren’t just numbers—they’re real opportunities that change lives. What really solidified my passion for the campaign was when I volunteered to help with Fall Fest, one of the many events that the campaign supports. I was Ken working at the "beach." I had so much fun watching families come together, laugh, and create memories. That night, I realized that events like Fall Fest are more than just fun—they’re a celebration of everything the Y stands for: community, inclusion, and opportunity for all. As the Annual Giving Campaign approaches each year, I can’t help but feel excited. I love talking to members and potential sponsors about how their support can create a ripple effect in our community. Whether it’s funding programs like LIVESTRONG at the YMCA for cancer survivors or helping teens find their confidence through leadership programs, I know that every contribution makes a difference. For me, the Annual Giving Campaign isn’t just another part of my job—it’s something I truly believe in. I’ve seen firsthand how these programs transform lives, and I’m proud to be part of an organization that works so hard to make sure everyone has access to the resources they need. When I talk about the campaign, I’m not just asking for donations—I’m inviting people to be part of something bigger, something that truly changes lives. And that’s what keeps me motivated every single day.
