We are so blessed that Maggie is able to attend such a unique public school. Not only is she competently and lovingly cared for by a team of nurses trained to handle her Type One Diabetes, but her days are filled with wonder, exploration, nature-appreciation, and the foundation for becoming a positively contributing person to society. However, California public schools have endured severe cutbacks in recent years. We are ranked 41st out of the 50 states and are receiving neary the lowest amount per student in our nation. The educational standards are high in the Las Virgenes School District (Mariposa, Maggie's school is part of this district) and Mariposa must rely on community to support programs that wouldn't otherwise exist such as Music, Art, Spanish, the Library, a Garden Specialist, Waldorf Teacher Training, Handwork Consultant, Waldorf School Supplies, and Nature Connection Program.
