Mrs. Tousant's Grant Wish -- 

For this Bad Math-a-jama project, I want see students grow in math areas they are not proficient in. My targeted instruction is based on each student's academic level. I anaylze various pieces of data from MAP, STAAR and classroom assignments to determine a student's independent goal. Once we know the goal they are working on, we chart and monitor it. Many of the goals that are currently set, requires students to use models. I have manipulatives that we use as a whole group, but I would like to make buckets or individual students sets that they will utilize during independent work. The manipulatives are not only engaging, but allows students to really become familiar with the various ways to represent math. By utilizing both virtual and physical manipulatives, representing math becomes second nature to students. Implementing various manipulatives and allowing students to participate in engaging activities, increases the retention, which in turn, allows student academic growth. This academic growth makes my little learners, Bad Math-a-jamas!!!
