Mrs. Tousant's Grant Wish -- 

Here at Press, we have many students needing more than tier 2 support, so many of them will receive additional pull out time with the interventionist. There is sometimes this negative view on being pulled out of class to go work with another teacher, so I want to emphasize that my intervention class is a bridge to students’ classroom learning. It’s important for students to know that I am a connection to what is going on in class; what we do here makes them more successful in class. In order to switch this mindset of my intervention students, I will recognize and celebrate their knowledge gain by highlighting their daily efforts and success toward goals in many ways. With Keys to Success, students will receive a wristlet key chain with our class’ inspirational quote, “Just because it’s hard, doesn’t mean it’s impossible.” Students will receive keys for that wristlet as they master goals within a 6 to 8 week timeframe. The wristlet will serve as an accolade that students can be proud of as well as “a badge of honor.” At the end of each semester, students I have served, will use their keys as entry into a school celebration. This celebration will be held during a lunch period, and students will be celebrated amongst each other for efforts they have put forward to be successful in mastering goals. The more I celebrate them, the higher they will achieve!
