Mr. Walker's Grant Wish --
Integrating a 3D printer into our 4th-grade ELAR classroom aims to significantly enhance students' comprehension of literature while simultaneously developing essential STEAM skills aligned with the 4th-grade STEAM TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills). In addition to improving comprehension, the project will foster valuable STEM skills, specifically targeting the 4th-grade STEM TEKS. Students will engage in activities that align with TEKS standards such as exploring how design processes are used to create solutions (TEKS 4.2), understanding the impact of technology on society (TEKS 4.6), and using tools and materials to build and test models (TEKS 4.8). Students will write about their design process, reflecting on how their models connect to the themes and characters of the book. With the 3D printer, we expect students to take ownership of their learning, developing a sense of accomplishment and a greater passion for both literature and STEM.
