Ms. Bolton's Grant Wish --

Sparky’s Book Nook is a collaborative project between the Library Staff at Walker, our Instructional Coach, and Luke Patterson, a former Walker Star. Luke has agreed to partner with us to build the library structure as part of an Eagle Scout project. He is a Junior at McKinney High School and a former Walker Star. Once the structure is installed outside of Walker Elementary the library staff will commit to adding new books as needed from each book fair. This free library will offer many benefits for students, educators, and the wider community. A free library promotes reading and literacy by providing easy access to books beyond school hours and within walking distance of their home, which can ignite a passion for reading and improve literacy skills. This initiative fosters a lifelong love of books, offers students a welcoming space to explore new titles, and encourages the sharing of books, thus building a sense of community and teaching the value of giving.
