What can we find you doing when you're not whipping up a dish for Men Who Cook?

Spending time with family outside and trying to keep up with my 6 and 4 year old children!

Why is it important to you to give back (to the SECU Family House)?

The SECU Family House is a great organization that serves the needs of family who are in the midst of a health crisis. Having been through family health challenges and loss, I've personally seen the benefit being able to return to a safe, warm place with supporting staff-it truly makes a huge difference to a family that is being stretched thin. A friendly smile, a warm meal and a simple "how are you?" go a long way to buoy the spirits of someone going through a challenging time. As a member of the Board, I constantly receive reports of comments and testimonials from guests who echo this sentiment and feel such gratitude and support by the SECU Family House.

What was the first thing you remember cooking?

Although I don't remember a specific dish, I remember assisting with big family meals (e.g., Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) from a very young age. There is no better way to learn cooking skills than being in the kitchen on holidays with multiple cooks!

Name a fun fact people may not know about you.

I swam competitively in high school and swam for my college's club swim team. I still love being in the water whether it's a pool, lake or ocean.

Why is it important to you to give back (to the SECU Family House)?

SECU Family House provides support to people going through toughest moments of their life. It is a representation our community's willingness to care for others. Visitors of the SECU Family House have too many difficult decisions to make, being able to let go of where to sleep, how to travel and where to eat is a huge help!

What was the first thing you remember cooking?

When I lived in Costa Rica I remember making helping make Tostones (flattened plantains) with my family!

I lived the first six years of my life overseas in Venezuela and Costa Rica during my father's time in the military.
