The mission of the Marin Foster Care Association is to achieve consistent, safe, quality care for the well being of all foster children by providing services and advocacy to Foster and Adoptive Families, Relative and Non-Relative caregivers.

At any given time, there are between 70 to 100 children living in out-of-home care in Marin County.

Marin County currently has 35 licensed foster homes. Many of our children are placed in out-of-county foster homes - the need for foster homes IN Marin is great!

The MFCA operates a Community Resource Center (CRC) where we distribute clothes, shoes, toys, games, school supplies, sports equipment, car seats, strollers, diapers and infant furniture and gift cards. 

Foster, fost-adopt, relative and non-relative caregivers and the youth in their care are all welcome at the CRC, as are families with open case plans at Marin County Children and Family Services.

The MFCA manages an Opportunity Fund, which supports foster youth extracurricular activities such as therapeutic horseback riding lessons, tutoring, homework clubs, sports, arts programs and music lessons.

In addition, the MFCA sponsors monthly "Ed Nights" (ongoing trainings), creates personalized action plans to assist foster youth and their families as needed, and coordinates regular social events. We partner with Marin County Children and Family Services, as well as a broad variety of community-based organizations. See our website for more information.
