I think most of you know how much the New York City Gay Men's Chorus means to me. In January, 2019, I will be entering my 10th season with the #NYCGMC: 3 seasons from 1985-1988, and again, 25 years later, starting in January, 2013.

This is the NYCCMC's annual fundraising drive, and it is the only time during the year that I ask you for your financial support.

The NYCGMC’s 39th season builds to an emotional climax next June, with a spectacular event at Carnegie Hall: a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, with a joint concert with the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, and other LGBTQ Choruses, during World Pride 2019 in NYC.

In addition to our 3 major concerts during the year, the NYCGMC provides the gift of song to many, MANY groups during the year, including LGBT seniors at SAGE, AIDS WALK/NYC, and LGBTQ homeless youth - not to mention countless weddings, memorial services, and benefits. 

And, of course: the many celebrity gigs, which help sweeten the pot. Since I returned to the Chorus in 2013, we have had amazing experiences, singing with Chita Rivera, Alan Cumming, pop star Julia Michaels, Carolee Carmello, the New York Philharmonic, and many other stars of the music and theater worlds. We surprised Bernadette Peters at a gala in her honor, with our rendition of “Sunday”. We have appeared on John Oliver Tonight, center court at the NY Knicks, and, most recently, backing up singer Keala at the Global Citizen concert in Central Park, viewed by millions worldwide.

ALL of this is volunteer, because we believe that music unites people of all faiths, races, genders, ages, and sexualities.
