As you may or may not know, I recently moved to New York City for work...all by myself, with very few people that I already knew and was close with here. After just three months in the city, I went to see the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus perform Holiday Slay and decided to audition and was forutnate enough to be welcomed to the group. 

Over the past nine or so months, the people in this chorus have been incredibly welcoming and have helped to make NYC feel more like a home. I have found a whole new set of family members

NYCGMC is just starting our 39th year. It is an organization that has battled through the epidemic of HIV, overcome considerable social injustice, and throughout served as a place for people of the LGBT...etc community to be themselves-open and free. We are still that! But we also strive to perform high quality music and deliver incomparable performances to our fans. This, of course, takes a lot of money. Once yearly we have this membership driven fundraising drive to detract some of the large costs we face in providing our service to the community.

Now I’m sure you are thinking...how can I really effect change in this type of organization, especially if I only have a few bucks to give. Well I have good news for you! We are also fortunate to be an extremely large organization, > 300 people in membership. So even if my friends only donate a small amount, the mass of people getting small donations from friends and family will certainly make a huge difference in how we are able to serve the LGBT community of NYC and beyond.

Donations, of course, are tax deductible and all that, but really you should do it because you love me :)
