Josh Sippen’s Fundraising Page

Hello, friend,

It’s been a year since I’ve asked you to contribute to the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus. Welcome to the Chorus’s 2018members’ fund-raising drive!  Which ends on October 30!

This year, I’m asking you to consider 5 numbers:  10, 25, 39, 50and 65.  Why these numbers?  Here’s why:

65.  Incredibly, I will be 65 years old in January. I’d be moved and grateful if as a birthday gift, you’d contribute a few dollarsto the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus.  Please do this before the end of October!  Bingo, Presto!  Two loving gifts in one fell swoop—thank you!

65 dollars, anyone?  Or another amount.  Please read on…

50.  THIS NUMBER IS IMPORTANT! On Thursday, June 27, 2019, NYCGMC returns to Carnegie Hall to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising!  To honor thisamazing milestone—to applaud how far our culture has come and inform how far we have yet to go—NYCGMC and Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles are co-commissioning a brand new choral work, Quiet No More, composed by distinguished LGBTQ artists including Julian Hornik (Dear Evan Hansen); Our Lady J (Pose, Transparent); Mike Shaieb (Through A Glass Darkly); Ann Hampton Callaway (singer/song-writer); Michael McElroy (Broadway Inspirational Voices, Rent); and more.  NYC and LA Gay Men’s Choruses will be on stage together for this concert, joined by singers from the Gay Men’s Choruses ofWashington DC, Philadelphia and Boston.  We will have up to 500 singers on stage!  In July, NYCGMC travels to Los Angeles to repeat the performance with GMCLA at the Walt Disney Center.  Later during 2019, Quiet No More will be performed in at least 30 cities across the nation, and a “virtual concert” is planned in which thousands of singers from around Planet Earth will join over the internet and sing parts of Quiet No Moretogether.  The commission includes an educational component to teach youth about the impact and legacy of Stonewall.

So it goes without saying:  save June 27, 2019 as a date that you’ll be with us at Carnegie Hall.  But back to the annual drive…

50 dollars, anyone?  Please read on…

39.  NYCGMC is in its 39th season.  Damn close to 40!  You’ll be hearing from me about this next year!

39 dollars, anyone?  Please read on…

10 and 25.  Last October, toward the end of my first year back in the Chorus after—um…a few years—I asked you to contribute between 10 and 25 dollars to NYCGMC.  I’m asking again!  All of you know how much joy the chorus brings to me.  Most of you know that beyond singing, I’m searching out and writing some foundation grants to help sustain this group.  (Hey, if you have a personal connection with a foundation that might just want to support a terrific gay men’s choral group, please let me know!)

So beyond 65, 50 and 39 dollars, if you can spare between 10 and 25 dollars, I and we would appreciate this so very much.  Just go to this link:

And like last year, I’ll match up to $500 of whatever you collectively contribute.  It’s only fair.  Just go to this link, and do it before the end of October!  Friends, I thank you from the bottom of my singing heart.
