NYCGMC Membership Fundraising Drive 2019
Hi Friend,
In this email, I'm asking you to make a contribution to NYC Gay Men's Chorus. I'm going to be brief this year--how about that?!
I'm asking you to contribute FORTY DOLLARS to NYCGMC, because starting right now, we are celebrating our 40th anniversary season. Or contribute 4 dollars--I really mean that. Or four hundred dollars. You know that I joined the Chorus way back when, in the beginning, in1980. I sang with this great group until 1982. Times were different then...remember? I left when I went to grad school. And then I took a deep dive back into the Chorus in January, 2017, and you have shared the amazing joy with me. I thank you for coming to concerts, supporting me, supporting us, and I thank you for giving (without the return of hearing one single song!) every October.
I could say so much about the Chorus, but I'm keeping it brief. Just a few things.
We'll be at Skirball Center December 13-15 for the Holiday Extravaganza, and again for Big Gay Sing, March 20-22. Then on June 20, we're singing at David Geffin Hall (used to be called Philharmonic Hall) in Lincoln Center. I hope you can join us for some of these. We have an amazing new Artistic Director, and we're sounding good.
I also want you to know that among a zillion other things, we do half-day workshops in inner city middle schools here in NYC, and this year we're expanding to some high schools. In these, we have fun, we talk to the kids, we answer their questions--"How did your parents react when you came out?"--and we sing with them. We show these kids that it can be pretty wonderful to be a gay man, transgender, whatever. Can you imagine being on the receiving end of this when we were so young?
