Hi friends, I’m asking for your help.   The annual Membership Fundraiser of the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus begins on October 1 and ends October 31. 

We are back in GLORIOUS form with an amazing new Artistic Director, John J. Atorino, who is fostering simply incredible energy.  DO NOT MISS OUR SHOWS IN DECEMBER!  They will be great!  (Ticket info below.)

I have a hard enough time asking you to come to concerts—they are expensive—much less asking that you open your wallets just because.  But here’s why I’m asking you now:

• We sing for LGBTQ rights and social justice. Your donation will support the Chorus AND our Youth Pride Chorus, queer and gender-fluid kids age 13—20 who bravely sing out their authentic selves and inspire everyone who hears and sees them.    
• The cost of our staff, rent for rehearsal and concert spaces, etc., is about $1,000 per chorus member.  NYCGMC members pay $300/year (reduced as needed) for the joy of belonging to this great group.  I’ve set my fundraising goal at $700 this year—between your support and my dues, that makes me “whole.”  (Dues + box office + grant dollars don't get us to a balanced budget.)
• COVID hit us very hard—no box office revenue for over two years, three years since our last Membership Fundraiser.  It’s going to take some time and exposure for us to achieve a surplus again. Tricky times, these.  
• With Johnny, the energy in our rehearsals is off the charts.  We sound great!  

That’s why I’m asking for your help.

I’ve sent this email to 70 people.  If everyone donates $10, that gets us to the $700 goal.  I’m suggesting donations of $10 to $50 per person.  From the bottom of my singing heart, thanks for your help.
