Alan J. Anderson's Personal Fundraising Page
NYC Gay Men's Chorus 2023 Membership Fundraising Drive
Welcome to my Annual Fundraising Page!
Who we are: Comprised of nearly 300 talented singers of various backgrounds, ages, religions, and personal experiences across a broad spectrum of gender identity and sexual orientation, the New York City Gay Men's Chorus (NYCGMC) is actively engaged in establishing the power of unity through diversity. Our 2023-2024 season will present three major concert performances as well as the 20th Anniversary of our Youth Pride Chorus. I hope you'll be able to attend one or more of these fabulous, inspiring events.
Even better: you can save 10% on tickets to our Holiday show on Friday and Saturday, Dec 15 and 16 if you purchase at the online box office before Nov. 1st using the discount code 'YULETIDE10' at: https://tickets.nyu.edu/overview/2023yule
What we do: NYCGMC is an internationally renowned performing arts institution in New York City and a pioneering voice for the LGBTQ+ community. Through the power of song, NYCGMC challenges people’s perceptions of who and what we are, encourages compassion and human connection, combats fear and hatred, and inspires our audiences with powerful, compelling music that not only entertains, but also educates, empowers, and inspires.
Why we sing: Since our first concert in the Great Hall at the Cooper Union in 1979, NYCGMC has been a true champion of social justice, embracing the values of diversity, inclusion, equity, and intersectionality. Through technical assistance and joint concerts with other Communitity organizations, we also help support the development of other LGBTQ+ choruses across the U.S. and internationally. In addition, our school outreach program has inspired over 2,000 NYC public middle and high school students to learn about community, acceptance, and diversity.
Why it's more important now than ever: Our performances thrill, inspire and entertain, as well educate and unite people, both in the audience, and beyond. But there's still more to do, especially now, in the current social and political environment, which seems to be consumed with fear, accusations, condemnations, and violence affecting our community on an almost daily basis.
Why NYCGMC needs your help: As a non-profit organization, NYCGMC relies on the generosity of donors to support this important work and to keep our song, and our work, alive. Producing world-clas performances and doing dedicated community outreach is laudable, but it is also very expensive, especially in NYC. That's why we need your support now more than ever. Your donation allows NYCGMC to amplify our mission and our voices to do even more at this important moment in history.
Why I need your help: By donating to my page any time between today and midnight on October 31, you can help me be the No.1 fundraiser for the FOURTH time in the eight years that NYCGMC has conducted this fundraising campaign! As a devoted member of NYCGMC since 2004, I feel compelled to be the best singer I can be, and as a competitive person, I feel compelled to be the best fundraiser I can be. With the generous support of friends and family like you I've been able to accomplish that goal three times in the past. I hope I can count on you again!
HOW YOU CAN HELP: It's safe, quick, and easy: just click on the 'Donate Now' button on this page and use any credit or debit card to make your tax-deductible donation. The QGive website is safe and secure, and your privacy is assured. Please note: NYCGMC would never share your name or conact info with any ooutside organization, so please include your name (rather than donating 'Anonymously') so that I'll be able to know who you are, and thank you personally.
BTW, no amount is too small ($5 would be great!), or too large (the sky's the limit!). You can be sure that every tax-deductible penny will go a long way in helping NYCGMC to maintain it's position as the No. 1 LGBTQ+ chorus in the nation, AND will get me one step closer to my quest to be the No.1 fundraiser in NYCGMC again this year. Thanks in advance for your generous donation!
