My Personal Fundraising Page

Welcome to Robert Davis' NYCGMC 2024 Membership Fundraising Drive page!

The New York City Gay Men’s Chorus is an internationally renowned performing arts institution in New York City and a pioneering voice for the LGBTQIA+ community.  Through the power of song, the NYCGMC challenges people’s perceptions of the LGBTQIA+ community, combats fear and hatred, encourages compassion and human connection, and thrills audiences with inspiring performances. The NYCGMC champions social justice and embraces the values of diversity, inclusion, equity, and intersectionality.

The theme for this year's fundraising drive is "Why I Sing". That's easy. Growing up in my family, we were always surrounded by music. Whether it was current pop, standards, country or everything in between, music was there. My parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins - everyone sang at the drop of a hat. Years ago, a partner of mine used to complain about musicals, saying no one started singing for no reason. Until he met my family - THEY did!

I have had the great good fortune to be a part of an organization that has become an integral part of my extended family. Like family, it has been a wonderful opportunity to be part of something larger than yourself; being there for each other to celebrate each others achievements and offer love and support for the hard times.

We have sung in protest at Carnegie Hall and joy at the NY Philharmonic. We have sung in sorrow and remembrance at the AIDS Memorial for those passed and on Good Morning America in honor of the Pulse victims. In each case, music has been the conduit for expressing love, joy, sadness and resilience.

On a personal note, the dear friends I have made in the chorus and so many of the other members were there at low points in my life. When I was going through a rough patch with cancer and assorted other medical travails, so many of them were there to offer assistance and support and encouragement.

NYCGMC has been there for me and many others in our organization, but also by extension for so many other members of our community. This is the true meaning of this thing called family values.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could find your way to make a donation to show your support for our ongoing work. And don't forget - we are always thrilled when you also come and see us perform! Our holiday concert "SPIRITS BRIGHT" is December 13th and 14th - go to NYCGMC.org for info. Use GMC20 for a 20% diecount for tickets purchased between 10/11 and 10/14.

My love and thanks!!!

As a non-profit organization, NYCGMC relies on the generosity of donors to support this important work and to keep our song alive.  Your support allows NYCGMC to amplify our mission and our voices at this important moment. In these critical times when LGBTQIA+ people are under scrutiny and attack, your donations make an enormous difference. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
