Miles for Meals 5K and 1 Mile Fun Walk

Walk or Run, Just Have Fun!*

All proceeds will support CORA's SNACK! program. SNACK! (Summer Nutritional Assistance for Chatham Kids) distributes food to more than 1,500 kids who depend on federal school meals during the school year, but who have little or no replacement for this nutrition in the summer.

Speed walk, casually stroll, jog, or take a chip-timed run. Whichever one you choose, you will know that you are helping CORA provide meals to hungry children in Chatham County.

Familes are encouraged to attend, baby strollers and well behaved dogs on a leash are welcome!

In addition to building a community without hunger, your event registration includes:

  • Race bib
  • Participant t-shirt
  • Race Bag
  • Chip timing for runners and walkers participating in 5K.

We will notify regsitrants of early packet pick-up in early March.

*Only 5K participants will have their race timed.

Fighting Childhood Hunger through SNACK! (Summer Nutritional Assistance for Chatham Kids)

In Chatham County, 50% of public school children receive free or low cost meals (breakfast and lunch) through the National School lunch Program because their family income is at or near poverty level.  More than 4,300 school children in Chatham County may not have adequate replacements for these meals during the summer in 2020.

SNACK!, a grassroots food program established and administrated by CORA, picks up where school lunches and Backpack programs leave off.  Ten weeks of nutritious meals are provided to kids who would have no way of receiving these meals during the months school is not in session. Every two weeks, food for every breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks are distributed to families whose children are enrolled in the program.  In 2019, we served approximately 1,500 children.IG SNACK!
