Afghanistan is the site of a decades-long complex crisis, one that has been fueled by political conflict, increasing effects of climate change, and deepening levels of poverty passed on from one generation to the next. The largest contributing factor of the Afghanistan crisis is the heavy internal displacement, as people are moving around from big cities, like Kabul, in search of safety from political and environmental threats. For almost two years now, since May of 2020, the number of people that have been displaced have more than doubled, adding up to a total of 550,000 people with no home and dire humanitarian needs. The people of Afghanistan survive these severe times through courage, perseverance, and most importantly, utter faith in Allah SWT. As the harsh climate conditions make food availability difficult, and political conflicts disturb the lives of innocent families and individuals, we must use the knowledge and resources we are given to assist our brothers and sisters in this time of need.

The goal of this project is to give to the less fortunate, and in doing so, we humble ourselves and realize the greater issues we still face in this world. By raising money for Afghanistan refugees,  we can work towards helping them take the first step into their fresh start. Our plan is to meet our goal by bringing awareness to this situation through social media, bake sales at our masjid, engaging activities to educate the youth, and reaching out to family and friends for generous donations.
