During the formation of the state of Israel in 1947-1948, 700,000 Palestinians were evicted from or forced to flee their homes by militias. Hundreds of Palestinian towns and villages were demolished after being depopulated. Palestinians refer to this tragedy as the 'Nakba,' and it ushered in decades of displacement, conflict, and persecution.

It is critical for every healthcare system to provide effective and accessible care to the people it serves. However, for Palestinians living under occupation or as refugees, access to proper healthcare is frequently prohibited due to their living conditions and limitations on their fundamental civil and political rights.

​​For more than two decades, Islamic Relief has been working in Palestine. Islamic Relief Palestine launched its office in the late 1990s so that long-term development initiatives may be implemented and monitored by locals. They have helped hundreds of thousands of individuals in Palestine for decades. The Islamic Relief Community has trusted colleagues that respond quickly in times of crisis and develop long-term, sustainable initiatives that set families for independent success.
