Islamic Relief’s Dedication to Syria
Focus on Syria
More than 11 years of conflict in Syria has killed hundreds and thousands of people, including women and children. The standard of living has been set back by decades. Roughly 13 million people are displaced within Syria while 6.8 million have been forced out of their country – which when combined, amounts to more than half of the country’s population in distress.
More than 90% of Syrians live in poverty. Millions have lost their livelihoods and are unable to meet their basic needs including access to food, clean water, and health care. The children of Syria are of the most affected. Many don’t know life outside of war and will be forced to face the long-term effects of physical and mental trauma. Over 2.5 million of children are out of school and 1.6 million are at risk of dropping out. As Muslims, it is incumbent upon us to help our brothers and sisters suffering across Syria.
Over 14.6 milion people are in dire need of humanitarian assistance. Since September 2022, an outbreak of cholera has been announced. This development has been rapidly affections families, especially in the Northern territory of the country.
With the recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake, Syria is in need of your donations now more than ever! The death toll has surpassed 45,000 in Syria and Turkey. With the increasing number of deaths and injuries, only a trickle of humanitarian aid has been received.
Islamic Relief has been working in Syria since 2011. Since the start of the war, they have been striving to help both families inside of Syria as well as those living in neighboring countries. IRUSA's work continues to this day, and will continue until the need for humanitarian aid no longer exists.
A few of their interventions include:
- Food aid
- Access to clean water
- Access to inclusive and quality education in areas with a high proportion of out-of-school children
- Humanitarian aid including access to food, non-food items, and medicine for internally displaced people in Aleppo and Idlib as well as Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Turkey
- Winter aid
We Need YOUR Help
With your donations, we will be able to help so many more people. By continuing to support our efforts in Syria, you can help make a difference in the lives of those in desperate need.
Islamic Relief’s Dedication to Refugee Aid
Islamic Relief is truly dedicated to refugee aid across the various sectors we work in including food aid; access to clean water and sanitation, health, education; emergency shelter; economic empowerment and social inclusion; sustainable livelihood opportunities; and winter aid. Around the world, we’re helping vulnerable communities build better lives for themselves for generations to come. In addition to refugees from Syria, Venezuela, Afghanistan, South Sudan, and Myanmar, we also provide aid to Iraqi and Palestinian refugees across Lebanon, Jordan, and Türkiye.
