Be A Hero Campaign

Welcome! We are participating in the Be A Hero Campaign which benefits the Recreation Therapy department at Miami Jewish Health.

The Therapeutic Recreation Department is a firm believer that quality of life is vital and significant. The department’s value can be assessed in two ways, both through the large numbers of people who benefit and by something more intangible – the smiles on our residents’ faces as they are transported across the tropically landscaped grounds to enjoy a malted in the Ungar Ice Cream Parlor, play a game of bingo with friends, or exercise their bodies and minds in music appreciation, reminiscence or wellness classes.

As yet another sign of its success, we have expanded our large array of programs that ensures that for residents Saturdays and Sundays are extra-ordinary days filled with physical and mental enrichment, companionship, and most important of all, love.

Additionally, we offer birthday balloons daily to our residents, we offer live entertainment and refreshments, daily bingo games, distribute flowers to women residents every Mother’s Day, a Thanksgiving Parade, Hannukah, Christmas and New Year’s parties in addition to all major holidays celebrations.

We ensure everyone votes, we also offer pet therapy, Interfaith, Shabbos, Catholic services and a Spanish mass to also meet everyone’s spiritual needs. These activities are essential to the livelihood of the residents at Miami Jewish. As a non-profit organization we rely heavily on donations to provide on going programs.

Members are also an important and vital part of the volunteer force, providing countless hours of service each year to the residents of the Home.

In summary, we tap into the 4 pillars of human essence: Social, mental, physical and spiritual.
