At a time in our lives where we did not know what we were going to do and how we were going to get mom the healthcare she needed, Miami Jewish Health was the only facility that agreed to take care of her with all of her medical issues – stage five chronic kidney disease, congestive heart failure, diabetes, bipolar manic depression, Alzheimer’s, and these are just a few of her ailments. Without hesitation, Miami Jewish Health took her in and gave her a place to get rehabilitation, a place to live, and a place where she was able to experience being treated with care, dignity, and respect every day. They gave her a place that felt like home and where she felt seen, heard, and cared for. She wasn’t just another patient in a bed… they saw her. They didn’t care that she wasn’t Jewish. They just cared for her and they cared for us too. They went out of their way so many times to do things that they didn’t have to do so that she could get the care that she needed.
